Gearing Up For Genting - Trip Prep Story
Travel Date: 12–14 December 2025
Travellers: Me, Hubby, and our two kids
December is coming, and that means… holiday mode activated!
After a busy year, we decided to escape to the mountains for a short and cosy family trip. So here I am, sitting with my planner in library for whole afternoon, jotting down all the details before our flight from SDK → Kuala Lumpur on 12.12.2025.
This is our pre-trip blog entry — a little mix of excitement, checklist-making, and imagining all the fun moments waiting for us at the top of the clouds.
Flight & Arrival Plan
We’ll be flying to KL with Batik Air. Once we land, instead of dragging kids + luggage through the bus route, we’re taking the easy way — a direct taxi to Genting Highlands. This saves energy, avoids the long queues, and gets us up the mountain faster (and warmer).
I’m expecting about a 1–1.5 hour drive depending on traffic.
And hopefully… no one gets carsick on the winding road 😅
Our stay will be at Grand Delemon Homestay, which looks cosy and perfect for a 3D2N family trip.
🚡 Main Highlight: Awana SkyWay Cable Car
I’ve already told myself:
We MUST take the cable car. No negotiation.
It’s the classic Genting experience — the misty rainforest view, the floating feeling, and the “Wahhh!” from the kids when the gondola lifts off.
Cable Car Plan
Take Awana SkyWay (standard cabin)
Maybe try the glass-floor gondola if we’re feeling brave
Stop at Chin Swee Temple for photos
Reach SkyAvenue for food & fun
I’m planning to go early morning on Day 2 (13.12.2025) so the view is clearer and less crowded.
🎢 Activities & Passes
Instead of buying individual attraction tickets, I’m looking into getting a multi-attraction pass (likely from Klook).
It’s usually:
Cheaper
Easier for families SkyAvenue
No need to queue many times
Covers several indoor/outdoor attractions
Since our kids are 13 and 10, they’ll definitely want rides, games, and some indoor adventure. A pass gives us the flexibility to go with the flow without overthinking costs.

✅ Food Planning (2-Night Stay)
Day 1 (Arrival Day / Evening):
Have a simple, easy meal at Jom Makan SkyAvenue — maybe Nasi Lemak or Char Kuey Teow — quick and budget-friendly after travel + check-in.
Jom Makan SkyAvenue
Easy, quick, and budget-friendly meals, this is a good start. They offer a variety of dishes — from local favourites to simple comfort food.
Good for breakfast or simple meals: Nasi Lemak, Mee Kari, Char Kuey Teow, Soto Ayam, Roti Telur / Roti Canai — all familiar, kid-friendly, and not too heavy.
Lunch or dinner. There are also more substantial options like Laksa Nyonya, Indian vegetarian platters, or mixed Asian dishes.
Because of its variety and casual style, it’s a safe go-to for family meals, especially when you don’t want fuss or heavy spending.
Day 2 (Full Fun / Park Day):
Breakfast at SkyAvenue (Jom Makan) — quick start for the kids before rides.
Lunch at Tampopo — warm ramen / curry rice (easy, filling, kid-friendly).

On days when want something warm, comforting and universally liked — perfect after cold weather or a day of rides — ramen or Japanese dishes are good for kids.
Ramen bowls (chicken or mild-flavour) or curry-rice sets — usually easier to handle for children and more filling.
Great fallback when want a hot meal without fuss, especially useful when weather gets chilly (mountain air!) or after a full day at the park.
Dinner “treat” at Burger & Lobster — enjoy lobster roll or burger for a memorable meal.
Burger & Lobster Genting
For a “treat” meal — especially if the kids (or adults!) fancy something a bit special — this spot is popular for burgers and lobster rolls.
Their Lobster Rolls and Original / Chili Lobster are well-known and a bit indulgent. If you want a special meal (maybe Day 2 dinner?), this can be a fun choice.
Also good if you want Western-style food instead of local dishes — especially likely to satisfy picky eaters or kids used to “burger / sandwich” meals.
Snacks / light bites during the day if the kids get hungry — snacks or simple food from the casual outlets in SkyAvenue.
Day 3 (Before Checkout / Wind-down): Maybe brunch or early lunch at SkyAvenue (something local or simple), enough to fill the stomach before you head down.
Also, bring along some light snacks & bottled water with you (especially for kids), because mountain weather + activities (cable-car + walking + rides) make you hungry & thirsty faster than usual.
